May God have mercy upon Yazīd ibn ʿAbdallāh al-Sulūlī, and he wrote [this] in Jumādā of the year nine and twenty.
Found by a survey expedition in February 2002 in Wādī al-Khushaybah, southwest Saudi Arabia. A companion, undated inscription by the same author nearby reads: "Allāhumma ighfir li-Yazīd..." (O God, forgive Yazīd...) (QMI-INS-003b). The text preserves a rare, archaic orthography — ileh/ilehumma for Allāh/Allāhumma — also attested in a bilingual Greek–Arabic papyrus of 22 AH and in later rock inscriptions of 46 AH and undated material from Wādī al-Khanq. The same opening, taraḥḥama Allāh ʿalā, stands in an undated prayer for another Yazīd, Yazīd ibn Muʿāwiyah ibn Ḥazn ibn al-Muḥajjal, probably the Companion of that name who came with the delegation of Najrān (QMI-INS-003c).
