The mercy of God be upon Khālid ibn al-ʿĀṣ and upon whoever prays for him with good; and Ziyād wrote [this].

A four-line prayer in which the writer does not pray for himself but for Khālid ibn al-ʿĀṣ: “The mercy of God be upon Khālid ibn al-ʿĀṣ, and upon whoever prays for him with good.” It is signed by Ziyād, who is not otherwise identified. The wish extends the blessing to every later reader who adds a prayer for Khālid, a device also found in prayers that close “may God have mercy on whoever says amen”.
