May God pardon al-Walīd ibn Maʿbad, may God forgive him his sin, and he wrote [this] for the year eighty, asking God for Paradise as a lodging, and the angels as an escort.
Al-Walīd ibn Maʿbad left several other inscriptions documented elsewhere by al-Rāshid, all around Mecca; two words here ("al-Walīd" and "al-jannah") are each split across two lines, a recurring feature of how these scribes handled limited rock space.
