- بيع الآخر من سنة ثلث (ثلاث) وثمنين (ثمانين)
I, [Suwayd] ibn [Samurah] ibn [Dhakwān] ibn [Samurah], wrote this writing ten nights into the month of Rabīʿ al-Ākhir, in the year three and eighty.
The opening of the inscription is damaged, so the name in brackets is a proposed reading by Maysāʾ al-Ghabbān (Suwayd ibn Samurah ibn Dhakwān ibn Samurah) rather than a certain one. A second, separate inscription lower on the same rock face reads "O Merciful One, protect the daughter of Judhām" — a short protective prayer for a woman, unrelated to the dated text above it.
