Inscription of Mukhlid ibn Abī Mukhlid

نقش مخلد بن أبي مخلد

Wādī al-Awjarīyah

O God, forgive Mukhlid ibn Abī Mukhlid, client (mawlā) of ʿAlī, and accept his pilgrimage (ḥajjah). Āmīn, Lord of the Worlds. And he wrote [this] in Dhū al-Qaʿdah, of the year one and ninety. May God have mercy on whoever reads this writing and then says āmīn.

Follows the same pattern as several other inscriptions in this corpus asking for a pilgrimage (ḥajjah) to be accepted, and closes with a blessing extended to any future reader who says "āmīn" aloud — effectively inviting every passerby who reads the stone to take part in the prayer. The same request for whoever reads the stone and says āmīn recurs at Wādī Salma in 105 AH (QMI-INS-055sa). The blessing on whoever reads the writing recurs in 130 AH at the end of Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh’s text of al-Fātiḥah, there joined to a curse on whoever alters it (QMI-INS-055m).
