O God, I have witnessed, believed and become certain that there is no god but You. And Muḥammad ibn Abī Ṭaybah al-Ḥimṣī wrote [this], during the pilgrimage (ḥajjah) of Sulaymān, Commander of the Faithful.

Dates itself by the pilgrimage of the Umayyad caliph Sulaymān ibn ʿAbd al-Malik, corroborated by Ibn Kathīr's al-Bidāyah wa-al-Nihāyah, which records a scholarly consensus that Sulaymān led the pilgrimage in the year 97 AH while caliph — one of the relatively few inscriptions in this corpus datable by direct cross-reference to a named historical event in the literary sources.

Source: Documented by ʿAbdallāh al-Balawī. For the pilgrimage of the caliph Sulaymān in 97 AH, see Ibn Kathīr, al-Bidāyah wa-al-Nihāyah, vol. 9.
