The mercy of God [be] upon Thābit ibn Abī Tamīm, maker of jars, and upon his family altogether. Āmīn, Lord of the Worlds. And Thābit wrote [this] on Saturday, ten nights having passed of Jumādā al-Ākhirah, in the year eight and ninety.
One of the few inscriptions in this corpus to record its author's trade: Thābit identifies himself as ṣāniʿ al-jirār, a maker of large storage jars — a rare glimpse of an ordinary craftsman's identity alongside the tribal and genealogical self-descriptions that dominate elsewhere in the corpus.
