Fragmentary Dated Inscription, Kos

نقش مؤرخ متضرر، قوص

Psalidi, Church of Saint Gabriel, Kos (Cos), Dodecanese, Greece

  1. … ون سنة
  2. … تسعين

… in the year … … and ninety.

A badly damaged dated graffito on the upper part of the second column of the Church of Saint Gabriel at Kos. The column is broken above the text, so that only the end of the year and the tens of the date survive. Imbert considers that it was cut either in 98 or in 99 AH (716–717 or 717–718 CE), by comparison with the other dated graffiti of the two islands. The date should therefore be treated as uncertain.
