نقشان منهما نقش عمر من أهل فلسطين، قندوز

Cnidus (Knidos), south-western Turkey; marble pavement of the nave of the Byzantine church (5th–6th c.), near the choir

  1. Graffito 1: اللهم اغف[ر] …
  2. Graffito 2: [غ]فر الله لعمر ابن … (كذا)
  3. من أهل فل[سطين]
  4. بحر (؟) …

Graffito 1: O God, forgive … [unfinished] Graffito 2: May God forgive ʿUmar ibn … of the troops of Palestine, … the sea (?)

Two graffiti cut in haste on the same marble slab at Cnidus. The first is an unfinished “O God, forgive”; the second asks God to forgive ʿUmar ibn …, “of the people of Palestine”. V. Ruggieri published a photograph but judged the texts illegible; Imbert gives the reading with reserve.
