Inscription of ʿAnazah al-Azd
نقش عنزة الأزد
Wādī Abū Ṭāqah
- بسم الله
- نحن عنزة الأزد
- حجنا سنة مائة
- نسل (نسأل) الله الجنة نزلا
In the name of God. We [of] ʿAnazah of al-Azd made pilgrimage in the year one hundred, [and] ask God for Paradise as a lodging.
Unusual among this corpus for speaking in the collective "we" rather than a single named individual — a group from the tribal subsection ʿAnazah, part of the larger Azd tribal confederation, recording a shared pilgrimage in the year 100 AH rather than one person's prayer. No plate of this inscription is reproduced in the source text.
