I am ʿAbdallāh ibn Muslim, client (mawlā) of ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān al-Makkī. I believed in the mighty God. And [this] was written by Lāzraq (?) in Ṣafar (?) of the year one hundred and ten.
A profession of faith dated Ṣafar 110 AH (728 CE), in the caliphate of Hishām ibn ʿAbd al-Malik. The writer, ʿAbdallāh ibn Muslim, identifies himself as a client (mawlā) of ʿAmr ibn ʿUthmān al-Makkī and declares his belief in the mighty God. The name of the writer of the inscription and the month appear with question marks in the published reading, so those words are provisional. Ḥismā is also the site of other early professions of faith in this catalog. A month earlier, on Friday 1 al-Muḥarram 110, a pilgrim returning from the Ḥajj recorded his passage in Ḥismā (QMI-INS-055af). A dated prayer from the Medina region belongs to the same month and year (QMI-INS-055ag).
