O God, forgive ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Sufyān. Ā- mīn, then āmīn, God of truth, Lord of the worlds, God of Moses and Aaron. May God curse whoever erases it or alters it. Āmīn. And [this] was written in Rajab of the year five and twenty and one hundred.
A prayer for forgiveness for ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Sufyān, dated Rajab 125 AH (April–May 743 CE), from al-Jahwa in northern ʿAsīr. After a doubled āmīn the writer addresses God as “God of truth, Lord of the worlds, God of Moses and Aaron”. The invocation of Moses and Aaron is well attested in the dated texts of the catalog, as “Lord of Moses and Aaron” in 119 and 125 AH (QMI-INS-055ka, QMI-INS-055h); here it is “God” (ilāh) rather than “Lord”, and the text adds ilāh al-ḥaqq, “God of truth”.
