May God have mercy upon al-Mufaḍḍal ibn al-Ṣalt ibn al-Mukhāriq. Āmīn. And [this] was written in the year one hundred and thirty.
A prayer for mercy (taraḥḥum) upon al-Mufaḍḍal ibn al-Ṣalt ibn al-Mukhāriq, dated 130 AH (747–748 CE), in the last years of the Umayyad caliphate. The same man is named in inscription no. 55aa, dated 110 AH, twenty years earlier, where he invokes the Lord of Moses and Abraham. The two inscriptions therefore document the same person across two decades in Najrān. The reading follows the text as published; the photograph does not allow the lacunae to be checked. The writing is compact and the spelling of the numeral follows the common pattern of the period (thalāthīn written as thalthīn).
