God bears witness, and His angels, that there is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise; and to that bears witness Yū- suf ibn Muḥammad al-Zamʿī. And [it] was written in the year five and eighty and one hundred.

A testimony of faith signed by Yūsuf ibn Muḥammad al-Zamʿī and dated 185 AH (801–802 CE), from the al-Madīnah region. Its opening echoes Qurʾān 3:18 (shahida llāhu annahu lā ilāha illā huwa wa-l-malāʾikatu … lā ilāha illā huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīm): the writer names God and His angels as witnesses, then adds his own testimony.
